Mash Gang started brewing NOLO beers during lockdown and have fast become one of the most talked about and recommended breweries in the AF community. They have quickly become known as a brand that don’t hold back and brew beers with big hitting hops and full of flavours, featuring both weird and wacky beers, but also do traditional styles well too.
Mash gang originally brought out Chug as an XPA extra pale ale low alcohol beer back in the summer; a beer they wanted to be light and approachable with enough hops to give it a kick, resulting in a beer that proved very popular with some great reviews.
Jump forward a few months and Mash Gang have has brought us Chug Gold, taking the original chug recipe and chucked in more hops to create a thicker & creamier beer.
Mash Gang Chug XPA Initial Review
The beer pours with quite a cloudy looking haze too it, looking thick and luxurious. There is the distinctive Mash Gang vibe, with a tropical fruity aroma and a slight creaminess in the aroma.

The flavour has taken everything that was good with chug and turned it up a notch you’ve got tropical flavours nice creamy mouth feel that goes down nice and smoothly; even a little bit of bitterness on the end. You can tell they have jam packed this beer with hops – of which there are Eldorado & Nelson Sauvin T90 – but yet they have managed to keep it very Chugable.
Once again, Mush Gang continue to prove why time and time again when people ask for recommendations for no lo beers their name is always one of the 1st on the list.
